The Carnival of Roses has a long tradition full of symbolism and emotion. Just a couple of days from the festivities the whole town is inlets in the preparations for this great local event, the most valued, desired and indispensable for the people of Roses.

Recently we have received the recognition of a long journey of illusions, work, persistence and perseverance. It’s time to thank all the people who have made this possible.

We welcome this new challenge to improve and move forward with greater motivation! It is a pleasure to share this award with everyone who believed in our work.

A popular festival celebrated in Catalonia on All Saint’s Day consisting in eating chestnuts, panallets, sweet potato and preserved fruits, accompanied with something sweet for drink, mainly Moscatell, a sweet wine.

It is said that the Castanyada originates at the end of the 18th century being then the typical funeral meal. While the chestnuts were roasting, prayers would be said for the person who died.
After eating chestnuts other food is served: moniatos or sweet potatoes and panallets.

Panallets is a traditional dessert consisting of small cookies in different shapes, but mostly round. Mainly they are made of a paste of almonds and sugar – Marzipan.
The most known one are those covered with pine nuts and egg white.

During these festivities the families gather together either at home or outdoors. The day of All Saints usually starts with Spanish families visiting their relatives in the cemeteries and going to church.

Fairs and Festivals of Saint Narcis of Girona, October 26th until November 4th of 2012.

When autumn arrives in the city of Girona it’s the time of the celebrations dedicated to the patron of the city, San Narcís.

The fairs and festivals of Saint Narcís have a very complete program of activities, over 200 events for every public and ages. Over time, this event has become a festival that embraces also the municipalities of the southern region of Girona.

The onset of these events are parades through the streets of the city and the traditional reading of the proclamation from the balcony of the City Council. The festivities end with the traditional fireworks on the banks of the Ter river.

In the Parc de la Devesa they install “barraques” little bars that offer food and drinks during the festivities. Also, worth a visit are the concerts located at La Copa and the Parc del Migdia, the fairs in the middle of the Devesa, the activities for children or cultural activities such as the “correfoc”, the “diada dels castellers” or the giant encounters.

After six intense months the Hotel Vistabella is again closing its curtain on October 14th.
A season full of adventures, memories and joy is coming to an end. This summer has brought, yet again, beautiful moments of nostalgia and memories that will last a lifetime.

Over the last months we had several new events and new ideas at the Hotel that have captivated our guests, such us our Blue and White parties every Friday afternoon. These parties will sure be on our list for the next season, as well as our famous Champagne Parties that have yet again broke record after record this year.

This break of several months will allow us to settle down on this last season, erase our weaknesses, develop new ideas and learn from our mistakes. Your comments, suggestions and ideas throughout the season are the best we can have, because you, dear guests are responsible of transforming this hotel into a magical place.

We have before us months of renovation and work to increase and improve our accommodation offer and facilities before our opening by the end of April 2013.

We are sad that we have to say goodbye again but glad that this is not a goodbye forever just a See you soon!
