TOP 10 things to do in Roses
From the Hotel Vistabella we want to help you organize your stay with us, so that you can complete your experience with all the possibilities that Roses offers, which are many and diverse: culture, gastronomy and entertainment. We have prepared for you a list with the most essential things to see and to do during your next visit to Roses from which to spend unforgettable days. Let’s get started!
1 - Visit the Ciutadella de Roses
The monumental military fortification of the Ciutadella is located right at the entrance of Roses and occupies an area of seventeen hectares in a whole single space. It is considered a Cultural Asset of National Interest and can be visited on a very complete and well-marked itinerary. Dramatized visits and family activities are also scheduled. The remains of thirteen centuries of occupations are well worth a visit!

2 - Walk a section of the coastal path
One of the most famous coastal paths runs along the beautiful coast of Roses (named GR-92) which also passes just below the Hotel Vistabella! The route has two well-differentiated sections, one that runs through an urban area and is therefore paved (from the Lighthouse of Roses to the Almadrava beach) and another more demanding section because it’s a dirt path with a greater elevation. A walk that takes us to discover beautiful coves and enjoy wonderful views.
3 - Eat Brunyols de l'Empordà
The smartest will think that an R has crept in on us… but no! Here we don't eat bunyols, in Roses we eat BRUNYOLS!! These absolutely delicious buns are typical of Lent and Holy Week, although we can find them almost all year round in bakeries in the area. It is characterized by its oval shape without a hole and its slight anise flavor. An irresistible delight that can be accompanied with a glass of Garnatxa or Ratafia (sweet liquors).

4 - Take a boat trip to Cadaqués
The views from the coast are beautiful but from the sea they are even more impressive. Don’t miss the opportunity to make an excursion to Cadaqués by boat, whether it is an organized excursion, or on a large catamaran or in a rental boat. Sailing along the spectacular slightly steep coast that hides a multitude of small coves and beaches, is a perfect plan!
5 - Enjoy a sunset
The writer Josep Pla said that: “…from Roses you can see the best sunsets in this country (…) the most magnificent and unforgettable”. There is little more to add, just try to find a good place to sit on the beach, or on the benches at the breakwater near the promenade or from the viewpoint at the port ... and let yourself be surprised by the most beautiful sunset. If you also have a signature cocktail on the terrace of our Blue Bar, the show is granted.

6 - Make a diving baptism
The land scenery is very good, but how about discovering the underwater landscape that the Bay of Roses hides? There are a few diving schools that will take you to discover the treasures of the seabed that surrounds us: discover the beauty of the Posidonia, see groupers and goldfish up close and be surprised by a sunken cannon from the time of Napoléon. An activity for sea lovers that leaves no one indifferent.

9 – Do a wine tasting
In the Empordà region there is a great wine-making tradition that is included under the DO Empordà seal. The range of wines is very wide and currently it is possible to visit different wineries, participate in the grape harvest and enjoy tastings and pairings. An ideal way to learn more about the culture of the region.
