National Day of Catalonia
Catalonia’s Parliament declared the 11th of September a national holiday in 1980 after its reestablishment with the end of the Franco dictatorship.
During this national holiday many demonstrations for the Catalan independence, concerts and cultural events are held.
The symbol of this holiday is the “Senyera” or “Estelada” the Catalan flag that hangs in visible places, balconies and places throughout Catalonia. Also during this day the anthem “els Segadors” is played.
