Concerts at the Citadel and the Trinity Castle of Roses
In the middle of the summer season there are plenty of music festivals in Roses. The Sons del Món festival is the earliest, but more concerts will be joining the listings for the local audience and the visitors.
22nd Festival of Blues, Jazz & Gospel
It is a musical evening event at the cultural space of the Citadel of Roses that is all about blues, jazz and gospel. There will be three concerts where very well-known artists will exhibit their best repertoire. This is the 9th of July and in the program there are:
At 22:00 h the evening event starts with jazz, which will emerge from the guitar of Valentí Moya and the harmonica of Joan Pau Cumellas (http://www.joanpaucumellas.com/en/), two known virtuosos of their instruments. Both express their affinity towards the Gipsy jazz (jazz manouche) and the influences of the founder of the style, Django Reinhardt.
At 23:30 h starts the show of gospel & soul with the voice of The Gourmets vocal Quartet (http://www.thegourmetsmusic.com/), group created in Barcelona in 2013 by four vibrant soloist voices perfectly harmonized and based on Afroamerican music.
At 1:00 h the blues will close the night with the winner of three Grammy awards Kevin Roosevelt Moore, better known as Keb’ Mo’ (http://www.kebmo.com/), singer, guitarrist, composer and the king of postmodern blues.

First series of concerts at the Trinity Castle
The Trinity Castle, placed on a hill behind the lighthouse of Roses, had been defending the harbour and the interior of the Bay from pirate attacks since the 16th century. This July and August at its terrace there will be hold four concerts at 10 o’clock at night with local musicians and a wine glass of D.O. Empordà wine.
The 10th of July there will be the performance of Madamme Mustash (Anna Gratacós), who will sing in different languages melodies that contain stories about love, fight, hope and harmony in an own style, which moves from the the pop-rock-folk to the French chanson.
The 24th of July the duo Melodies intemporals, made up by the singers Ilona Schneider and Diego Caicedo, will revisit melodies and songs that go from the 16th centurry until the 20th century: Granados, Ravel, Villa-Lobos, Ellington, Debussy, Strauss...
The 7th of August we will have the voice of the Empordà singer-songwriter Rusó Sala and the Sardinian guitarrist Caterinangela Fadda. Their music is full of poetry in different languages, with own compositions, poems set to music and a tribute to the Latin American song.
The 21st of August the guitarrists from Roses Terry Patrick Ryan and Pablo Guirao will offer the concert “Double Guitar Attack”, where they will try the limits of the acoustic guitar.
Tickets are sold at the Citadel of Roses (from 10 to 21 h) and at the Trinity Castle (from 17 to 22 h, C. d'Antoni Canals, 105).
